2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 Review

2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 Review

There's nothing like having the right tool to do the job right. When I'm doing a rear brake job, I need to have the piston tool, otherwise using needle nose pliers will only make me waste time, not to mention peeve-me off.

The new 2011 Ford Super Duty is the right tool for anything! Seriously. The week following my test of the Ram 1500, I had this monster-killer of a pickup parked out front my house on the street; it's too big for my driveway. There's this tree in my front yard, you see, that was either going to succumb to the 350's massive grille or not, as it hampers parking on my property... But I digress...

Yes, the Super Duty does carry its name well. Super all-around, do anything go anywhere truck and like the Ram, all about duty. Duty to work, family and everything in between. How does such a seemingly one-track minded vehicle do all this? Consider the Super Duty the pinnacle of Ford know-how, in a truck.

Duty all around
There can be no doubt in anyone's mind that Ford's Super Duty is ready to take on the World. Just pin it to the hitch and we're off! With 20” wheels and trick power telescoping side-view mirrors, it's always ready to go. Seriously, while the truck’s styling belches out power, testosterone and rugged good looks, the cabin is all about comfort, ergonomics and lounging.

The huge leather-clad front buckets have only the absence of the name La-Z-Boy to differentiate themselves from the name brand chairs. In the rear, the bench could accommodate four (short one belt though) if one was so inclined given its sheer width. For all occupants, room can be measured in cubic yards, lots of them.

What impresses as well is the amount of attention with which Ford has put the pieces together on the inside. Materials are classy, fit and finish are good and the overall effect is that of luxurious lodgings for a truck, especially in the case of my Lariat tester. This is not a Blue Bird CV200 with a bed! Also, the level of kit included in my $75,509 4x4, Crew Cab, 156-inch wheelbase, single rear wheel Lariat F-350 was complete with a nav system, SIRIUS satellite radio and SYNC. No one's roughing it here.
